Repsol finalizes the construction of its ⁣largest solar plant in the United States

Repsol has completed the construction of Frye Solar, its largest photovoltaic plant to date,‍ with a total installed ‌capacity of 637 MW⁤ and 570⁤ MW already in operation. ​Located in⁤ the United ​States, it is near the city of Kress, in Swisher County (Texas).

Building the Future

Frye Solar consists of almost a ‍million solar panels. Repsol has ​already⁤ signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for 89% of ⁢the⁢ production of this project, as part of its strategy to ensure profitability.

“The completion of our largest renewable installation ‍in the United⁤ States to date is an important milestone ‍that will contribute to Repsol’s commitment to ⁣becoming a net-zero emissions⁢ company by 2050,” ⁤said ​Federico‌ Toro, ​Director of Low⁤ Carbon Generation Operations in⁢ North ‍America.

Commitment to Renewable Energy

The installed and developing renewable capacity in Texas is 2,091 MW, including Frye (637 MW), Outpost (629 MW), and Pinnington (825 MW). Additionally, Repsol ⁤already generates renewable electricity at its⁤ plants in New Mexico,⁤ Jicarilla ⁣1 and 2, with a total installed capacity​ of 125 ⁣MW and 20 MW of ​battery storage.

Investing in Sustainability

Repsol‍ will invest ⁣between 3,000‍ and 4,000⁣ million to ‍organically develop its⁢ global project portfolio and aims to reach between 9,000 MW and 10,000 MW by 2027.
