Iberdrola Awards Second Edition of Convive Awards
Iberdrola is celebrating today the second edition of the Convive Awards, an edition organized in collaboration with the Center for Innovation in Technology for Human Development at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (itdUPM). These awards recognize and give visibility to initiatives, partnerships, companies, actions or local entities that exemplify the integration of renewable energies with socio-economic development, rural and agricultural development, and biodiversity conservation in Spain. The candidates already submitted have been assessed according to these four criteria: socio-economic/environmental impact; alignment with the values of the Convive program in renewables, nature, and people; collaboration and partnerships between stakeholders; and replicability of the initiative/project. The categories are Local Entities and Citizen Participation; Innovative Solutions and Research; Social and Business Entrepreneurship; Communication and Awareness, and Youth.
The winners will receive the relevant distinctions of this second edition of the Convive Awards in a public event taking place today in the town of Paredes de Nava, Palencia. They will then become part of the repository of winners, with special recognition and support for the dissemination of their project. The independent jury is composed of up to six members, representatives from different areas: academia, administration, environment, communication, socio-economic or entrepreneurship, among others.
The first edition of the Convive Awards, which took place last year at the Palacio de Congresos in Mérida and was attended by Iberdrola’s president, Ignacio Galán, brought together more than 300 people and over 50 media outlets. The winners were EFEverde in the category of communication and awareness, the Solar Village of Cedillo (Cáceres) and the City Council of Revilla Vallejera (Burgos) in the category of local entities, the Regional Government of Navarra in the citizen participation section, the International Institute of Law and the Environment in the category of research and innovation, and the power transformer company located in Malpartida de Plasencia Faramax in social and business entrepreneurship. The special prize was awarded to Seo-Birdlife by Iberdrola’s president, Ignacio Galán.
